Fall on the C&O Canal

One of the most popular outdoor activities in Maryland is hiking the C&O canal, which stretches all the way from the Chesapeake Bay to the Ohio canal and conveniently snakes close to my neighborhood. My parents come here nearly every week to walk Charlie and I like to join them when I'm home for the weekend.

I came with R&D and R's family back in October when the leaves had barely started to turn yellow and never posted the pics. We climbed the Billy Goat trail, which is a stretch of rocky hills and cliffs that is actually pretty challenging. Definitely not for the feint of heart.

Engaged!

After scaling cliff faces, crossing streams, and hiking for 3 hours, we went to Lao Sichuan, my favorite restaurant in the world and inhaled our food. The food was too good to take pictures of =)

This weekend, J and I came home to celebrate my mom's birthday and went to Swain's Lock Trail to enjoy the perfect fall weather and fall foliage. In just a few weeks, the leaves had already fallen and had turned the trademark golden oranges and yellows of fall.

Some of the trees had already shed over half of their leaves, so I missed the peak foliage season by a few weeks, but they were still beautiful nonetheless. Trying to enjoy the last of this idyllic weather and fall in Maryland before I hopefully move to Cali for residency next year!
